NDIA fraud reporting guidelines for participants

Fraud Assessments:


  1. Situation: Participant requests ineligible item (e.g., iPad) but no purchase made
  2. Action Required: Not fraud. Explain NDIS rules, decline request, and document in participant file.
  3. Situation: Participant requests ineligible item and tries to pressure SC to approve or falsify justification
  4. Action Required: Potential misconduct. Document request, refuse, and consider reporting to NDIA if you believe they will misuse funds.
  5. Situation: Participant obtains ineligible item using NDIS funds knowingly
  6. Action Required: Fraud. Report to NDIA Fraud Reporting Line (1800 650 717) or online form immediately.
  7. Situation: Participant obtains ineligible item but did not know it was not allowed (genuine misunderstanding)
  8. Action Required: Education required. Notify participant of rules, work with NDIA to correct claim. Document outcome.
  9. Situation: Participant’s actions involve safety, abuse, neglect, or exploitation (even if not financial)
  10. Action Required: Report to NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission immediately.
